In woodland, grove or glade,

One ancient tree stands firm, unswayed

He’s watched the world since time began—

A silent sage, more root than man

His bark is etched with age and lore 

His beard trails round the forest floor

Great-grand of leaf, of limb, of line—

The winds still pause to catch his sign

And if you ask with heart laid bare

He’ll stir the leaves and scent the air

His voice is slow, like roots that grow

Unveiling truths the old trees know.
